St Peter’s edge King’s to claim title

St Peter’s College have claimed the Auckland 1st XV rugby title in a thriller against King’s College at Eden Park. St Peter’s claimed a 29-28 win, after leading 12-0 just minutes into the match. King’s College got on the board off the tee, before St Peter’s crossed for a third time in the first half. A converted try and penalty gave King’s some hope as they closed the gap to 17-13 at the break. King’s crossed for a late converted try but St Peter’s held on for their first title since 2000. St Peter’s also won their semifinal against defending champions St Kentigern by a point a week earlier.
