Tigers clawing on as Dragons fire
The Warriors will lock in the NRL playoffs if they can beat the Bulldogs in Sydney today after Wests Tigers lost 20-10 to the Dragons last night and all but ruled themselves out of September footy. The Tigers remain a mathematical chance of a miracle finals finish but now require two straight wins and other results to go their way. The Dragons arrested their poor form of late with the morale-boosting victory. Penrith caretaker coach Cameron Ciraldo admitted his players were showing signs of frustration after two players were sin-binned for punching during a 20-12 upset loss to Newcastle. Cronulla maintained their bid for a top-four spot with a 28-16 win over North Queensland. The Cowboys closed to 18-16 but the Sharks cleared away with two tries in the final four minutes.
