Return flight

Passengers on an Air NZ flight were back where they started five hours later. Last Wednesday’s flight from Auckland at 2.20pm was redirected to Christchurch after strong tailwinds prevented it landing at Queenstown. An Air NZ spokeswoman said passengers could not disembark because the plane was parked at an international gate. It returned to Auckland.
