Hats off

Huge praise must go to the fire crews who worked around the clock to save hundreds of homes in Nelson. About 50 firefighters put fears for their own families and homes aside to battle the huge fire which broke out in Nelson’s Pigeon Valley on Tuesday. The blaze spread to 2000 hectares by Thursday evening and more firefighters were being flown in to help the local crews.
