BESPOKE COUNTRY LIVING

Advertising feature Discerning buyers look for that unique feature and special touch that sets a home apart. It’s not simply about grandeur; the architecture of the home and its surroundings must complement their lifestyle and aspirations. This certainly rings true for Simon and Cherie Rhind, who value privacy yet love a friendly neighbourhood and having room for a horse.

The tranquil 9,576sqm property epitomises Cambridge’s equine nature. Over the road from Cambridge Jockey Club and training track, it has a paddock, stables and barn/boat shed.

The best part of the lifestyle for Cherie was having her horse, Thomas, at the doorstep and top-notch amenities for him. The lush grass, stables, yard, and hot-water wash bay meant he was in his element.

Coming home from a busy day’s work and soaking up the peace and quiet was enough for Simon.

The couple were instantly drawn to the home three years ago and felt nothing needed changing. Beyond the design and the layout, the location held much appeal. “It’s near Cambridge, but has a rural twist, and is close to St Peter’s School, which our daughters were attending at the time.”

Everything was a perfect match – even the fish were colour-coordinated, to the home’s black palette. Solar gain was a big plus, and seeing the sun peek through the trees of a morning is a daily delight. “We have the most beautiful outlook over nature. It’s stunning. The landscape is so gorgeous yet low maintenance. One of our favourite spots is the dining

“We always wanted to live in Cambridge for as long as we remembered. It’s such a beautiful town. It has an awesome feel, and everything is at our fingertips.

“And with two options to get onto the expressway, we can head north or south from the property within minutes.”

The family would be staying put if Cherie had not sold Thomas and had her daughter not changed schools.

“There is so much you can do here. The property lends itself to horses and a couple of beefies. Hay can be cut from the paddock and kids have space to race around on a motorbike.” room overlooking the water feature.”

The aesthetics of the property are uplifting. Simon and Cherie love driving into the property and being welcomed by the space, the manicured lawns, water cascading into the pond, and, of course, the beauty of their architect-designed home. “It still takes our breath away.”

A man’s best friend is his shed, and Simon’s is the Barton where he houses gardening and workshop tools to avoid cluttering the garage.

Cherie enjoys hosting friends and family so really appreciates the separate guest house, which is also ideal for Airbnb.

A family favourite is the heated saltwater pool and spa, highlighted through effortless indoor-outdoor flow.

The Rhinds believe the thoughtful house design is universally appealing. It is brimfull of bespoke features and is the perfect entertainer. The second lounge is suited to children of all ages and is a great break-out option.

Parents and children have their own sleep wings, ensuring personal space for everyone.
