company, the sky’s the limit when it comes to your own home. Lana Taylor, one of Three Birds Renovations’ trio of founders (best friends and busy mothers who swapped their corporate careers for turning ordinary dwellings into dream homes), was inspired by the burst of bougainvillea on her family’s property to create a little piece of Santorini on Sydney’s North Shore. Formerly a terracotta Tuscan-style villa they had lived in for 15 years, the house was reimagined as a heavenly white-on-white beauty with a Mediterranean feel.
Marbled stone plays a starring role in the ground-floor kitchen. A hero feature of this light and airy space is the wide gas-strut window and servery overlooking the courtyard outside, the surface of which is crafted from a single piece of Caesarstone. The adjacent Caesarstone island has mitred joins for a seamless effect, and the flush-mounted gas cooktop on the opposite wall is recessed into a matching stone bench.
Storage was kept low, removing the need for overhead cabinetry, and the rangehood contained within an unobtrusive chic white box. The consistent visual aesthetic along the rear wall was achieved by integrating the Fisher & Paykel fridge to enhance the calming sense of spaciousness.
