New at An Astute Assembly are trivets, baskets and chopsticks hand-woven in New Zealand from local bamboo by Maya Aoki. Maya trained in traditional methods in Ōita, Japan, a region with a centuriesold history of making with this sustainable resource. Her contemporary take is a real exercise in minimalism, requiring only a few tools to make each item.
