Colour, but keep it neutral? If that’s your vibe, we’re with you — and so is this new Copenhagen gallery, Alium (above), which blurs the lines between art, design and interiors by displaying items as if in situ at home. Aside from the novel concept, what these spaces do so well is introduce subtle, not shouty, colour to a neutral palette — something you could easily and inexpensively try at your place with paint. Appealingly grounded hues that riff off coal, rust, stone and moss are a reminder that there’s a spectrum of interesting near-neutrals to explore while staying true to an elegantly understated style.
