Seniors ready to take on the world

-

Kia ora koutou, Talofa lava, Greetings everyone.

Choosing a career is one of the most exciting things for anyone. As our students progress through college their talents and abilities are identified and developed. This helps guide them in choosing their career as they realise what they are good at and what they enjoy doing.

As our Year 13 students complete their last year of college I thought I would introduce you to six of them and share some of their aspirations.

Anna Taylor has been a prefect this year. She has interacted with many people and learned to problem solve. Next year Anna is off to Otago University to study Health Science, intending to become a dentist or a physiotherapist.

Michael Li says Year 11 Technology taught him how to design and create using computers. Next year Michael is off to Auckland or Victoria University to study computer engineering.

Angeleen Masoe enjoys the outdoors. As part of the Horticulture Academy Angeleen gained mechanical experience which sparked her enthusiasm in this area. Next year Ange is off to hakea Air Base to train as an aircraft technician.

Mercina Nielsen loves to dance and regularly competes in dance competitions. Mercina teaches dance to three to 15 year olds. Next year Mercina is off to Massey University (Wellington) to study nursing, with the intention of becoming a paediatric nurse.

Sina Crichton has been our Head Girl this year. In this position she has developed her leadership skills and her desire to lead and help people. Next year Sina is off to Victoria University to study criminology.

Kees Hooper-Whiti built a gocart in his engineering course at college last year and realised his talent and enjoyment in engineering. Kees is off to Canterbury University next year to study mechanical engineering.

These are just six of our students who are about to finish their time at college and move on to the next stage of their lives. They will leave us as successful, confident, well rounded, future focused, community-minded young adults.

We are so proud of them and count it an absolute privilege to be involved¯O in growing successful young men and young women.
