Well-fought games for hockey finals

-

The wait for the final was worth it for all grades of school hockey.

Some well-fought games took place in fantastic conditions at the Halliwell Turf on Monday.

All teams played well this season with great sportsmanship, much improved teamwork over the season and plenty of parental support from the side lines.

Horowhenua Hockey had a mentor programme in place for the umpires this year, and all the umpires showed there is great potential for up and coming umpires among those who who turned up every week during the season.

Poroutawhao School seemed to be in control of the final against Te Horo Trappers but Te Horo took their chances through the game and scored three goals to secure the win 3-2.

Foxton Beach Eels took on St Joseph’s Stars with a toughfought game of hockey, St Joseph’s came out the winners with a 8-1 victory.
