New season bowls in at Levin club

-

The new season has started on September 3 at the Levin Bowling Club in Weraroa Rd.

There was a great turnout of members who had a roll up and then afternoon tea.

At the Kapiti Bowling Centre’s prizegiving held during June the club won prizes for the Club of the Year, Green Keeper of the Year again (Arne Jansen), a new category Artificial Green of the Year (Greg Hutchings) and also best green in the centre, all voted by the other clubs in the Centre. Tom Henderson from the Paraparaumu Beach club won Coach of the Year.

The first rep team has been selected for the season and well done to the following women on their selection, D McGill, B Law, M Copland, J Watt, and K Lehman.

The club held club champs during the winter and evergreen N Turnbull is still winning titles after more than 30 years of playing.

He won the mixed singles event and teamed up with M Copland, V Holmes and P Stirrat to win the mixed fours.

Last weekend the club opened its grass green and held its balloted men’s and women’s triple’s event. The green is in superb order and played very well. D Short, V Anderson and L Moy won the women’s event with G Law, P Brown and B Thompson (also still winning more than 30 years after his first title) winning the men’s.
