Stage opportunity knocks for kids

-

Five students from a drama school in Levin have been accepted into an international programme to be held in Wellington this month.

Excitement is running high for students from Levin Little Theatres — HYPE Theatre that have been accepted into the internationally presented musical theatre programme.

HYPE stands for Horowhenua Young Persons Entertainment.

Musical Theatre International (MTI) JNR Broadway productions and Stage Antics are presenting the summer pilot programme for NZ students in performing arts in Wellington.

They will be introducing three new Broadway JNR productions over a week’s intensive training, presenting their chosen show on the final day of the course. The Hype students would join more than 50 children aged between 7 and 17 selected to study under top quality industry tutors as part of the training.

HYPE facilitator Linda Buckley said it was a privilege for those students to be part of what was an extraordinary opportunity. “We all are incredibly excited and grateful for such amazing supportive parents and sponsors,” she said. “The most essential principle of HYPE is to gain experiences from other areas whilst having a basic thorough knowledge of all theatre works from our platform at HYPE. Information from all areas of experience and opportunities are

accumulated into their own repertoire for their future, to excel.”

HYPE presents its own Broadway JNR production — Disney’s Beauty and the

Beast in August, so if you are interested come join our membership with HYPE by contacting Linda Buckley 063626554 or FB pm Hypelevin.
