Reevedon Village residents on the perks of village life

-

Being part of a friendly community is a highlight of retirement village living, according to residents of Enliven’s Reevedon Village in Levin.

Annette Francis, who has lived at Reevedon Village for six years, says the village, with 29 one and two bedroom villas, is the perfect size.

“It is small enough to be friendly, and everyone is friendly. We care about each other, we check up on each other.”

Annette is a keen gardener and has dozens of pots outside her villa filled with flowers and vegetables. She says the cherry tomatoes are so plentiful she gives them away “left, right and centre” to other residents.

George Masson, who has lived at Reevedon Village with his wife Rosalie for seven years, says you can be as sociable as you like.

“We’ve had good neighbours, we get on well with each other, and there is a sense of community.”

He says they also have a good relationship with the neighbouring Reevedon Home, where the pair run indoor bowls for residents of the home twice a week.

Reevedon Home is part of the full continuum of care offered by Enliven in Levin, so if a resident’s needs change, so too can the level of support.

Reevedon Village caters for independent retirement living, while neighbouring Reevedon Home offers both short and long term rest home care, and a day programme. Reevedon Home’s sister site, Levin War Veterans Home also offers hospital, dementia, and health recovery care as well as retirement rental units.

Enliven’s Reevedon Village is located at 37 Salisbury Street in Levin and has one and two bedroom villas available now. To find out more, call the village sales agents Murray and Sue on 06 349 1409 or 027 243 3657. Alternatively, visit enlivencentral.org.nz for more information.
