Efficiency matters

Scrap the city centre revitalisation (leave it to the private sector), sell land and buildings the council already owns, scrap the new head office and greatly improve head office efficiency (flatter structure, fewer managers, core businesses only).

With the dollars saved, double investment in wastewater, water, stormwater and roading.

And freeze rates in 2012/13 at last year’s levels and for the remaining decade, increase them at only half the projected rate of inflation.

This will attract and keep people and businesses in Porirua.
