Council up with the play
Porirua City Council is dragging its documentation into the 21st century. In early April the council committee, a recommendation body made up of every councillor and the mayor, changed its name to Te Komiti – a move suggested by Western Ward councillor ’Ana Coffey. Two weeks later Quick Response codes appeared on printed council agendas. A QR code is a barcode which smartphones can scan, giving them instant electronic access to the information. Alongside councillors’ trial ipads, these moves might confirm Porirua’s council as the hippest in New Zealand.
