Holiday acts were entertaining

-

We were lucky enough to be entertained by two great acts in the school holidays, Zappo the Magician and Dan and Dani, and the good news is both are available for birthday party bookings.

While Zappo the Magician performed at Johnsonville’s shopping centre during the holidays, we were privileged to see him perform at the third birthday party of one of Bailey’s friends. I thought he was fantastic and the other parents and children all seemed to agree.

Zappo had the kids eating out of the palm of his hand with his exuberant performance and sense of humour. He tailored his show to suit the age range of the children present (2 to 12 years). There were all the tricks you would expect in a children’s magic show – things appeared, disappeared and changed; there were magic words, wands and the birthday boy got to be a special assistant.

At the end of his show Zappo brought out his beautiful white, lop-eared rabbit for the children to meet before making animals and other creations out of balloons for each child. I was impressed by his balloon interpretation of Lightning Mcqueen. Zappo certainly made this party one to remember. You can contact Zappo, aka Paul Bates, at zappo@actrix.co.nz and check out his website zappoland .co.nz.

We have seen Dan and Dani’s show on several occasions. Each time it has been an interactive, music-filled one with husbandand-wife team Matt and Amalia. Their characters, Dan and Dani, are cousins, neighbours and best friends living on a typical Kiwi street.

They have fun adventures together with their friends, including a dinosaur called Frankie. The songs written by Matt and Amalia are perfectly pitched for the under fives. They have catchy choruses and fun actions. Matt plays the guitar and Amalia performs the actions whilst encouraging the kids to get involved.

Bailey’s favourite song would have to be Dinosaur Stomp. He loved the actions and being able to stomp around the room like a dinosaur. You can book Dan and Dani by emailing them at danand dani@dananddani.co.nz.

They are sure to be a hit with the littlies.
