Trust seeks support for running track
An all-weather running track in front of Mana College has taken a tentative step forward, with members of a newly formed community trust making a presentation to Porirua City Council last week. Trustees Henry Smith and Lafaele Lupo, from Titahi Bay Amateur Athletics Club, who are driving the project, said along with getting the backing of Athletics New Zealand, they have a quote for a feasibility study. They were not asking for any council money at this stage, but its support in principle. Mr Lupo said the facility would be similar to Newtown Park, with a synthetic track surrounding a grass area that could be used for football, rugby league, rugby or other sports.
