Farewelled

Tawanui Indoor Bowls Club farewelled one of its best earlier this month. After several years competing at club and national level, Avon Compton is off overseas.

At a special dinner he was presented with a cup for winning the men’s single competition by president Dale Lang. Also honoured were Jock Miller and Trevor Rayner, who received life memberships.

Between them they have held all committee positions, including patron and auditor, for lengthy spells and have represented the club successfully in many competitions.

Rayner is the incumbent President of the New Zealand Indoor Bowls Federation.
