Classy chassis for everyone to enjoy

- By KRIS DANDO

If you are into choppers, imports, hot rods and drag cars, then you will want to be at North City Shopping Centre this Sunday.

The annual Hot Rod Show, hosted by Western Bays Street Rodders, is on from 10am on the second level car park.

Club vice president Colin Wansbrough says it is the perfect opportunity to inspect more than 100 machines proudly displayed by local members and a few from out of town.

‘‘One of the highlights will be two drag cars from Hamilton; they’re pretty amazing. We have a lot of bikes this year and plenty of other impressive vehicles – it’s a big day for us, a chance to show off the hard work and love we put in.

‘‘There will be a wide appeal we believe and you can duck into the mall to get a Father’s Day gift for the following weekend. North City has been fantastic; very supportive of the show.’’

Last year more than 1800 visitors went through. Wansbrough, who will be showing his 1956 Chevy, hopes for similar crowds again.

The club has ‘‘adopted’’ Flynn Brodie, a Titahi Bay two-year-old who has the rare pachyonychia congenita affliction, as its fundraising cause for the year.

‘‘It’s very fitting for us to help them, they’re a young, local family,’’ Wansbrough says.

The car show is at North City from 10am to 5.30pm, August 26. Entry $3.
