Stretch out and re­lax

I re­cently started go­ing to the Mums & Bubs class at BodyMana Pi­lates & Yoga in Whitby.

It is a class for mums of young chil­dren where you are able to take the kids along to play while you stretch and strengthen your body, and it is great.

Sarah, the in­struc­tor and owner of BodyMana, has the per­fect mix of en­ergy and ex­pe­ri­ence, mak­ing the class both fun and phys­i­cally worth­while. She has a range of qual­i­fi­ca­tions in health, psy­chol­ogy, fit­ness and nu­tri­tion, and 10 years of ex­pe­ri­ence in the in­dus­try, so you know you are in safe hands in her classes.

Sarah’s en­thu­si­asm for pi­lates and yoga is in­fec­tious and she is very pas­sion­ate about help­ing peo­ple to im­prove their strength and mo­bil­ity.

The class sizes are small, just five mums in the Mums & Bubs classes, which means Sarah is able to keep a close eye on ev­ery­one en­sur­ing they are per­form­ing the ex­er­cises safely and cor­rectly to get their op­ti­mum ben­e­fit.

The class is specif­i­cally tai­lored to us as par­ents of small chil­dren, fo­cus­ing on strength­en­ing the mus­cles we use daily, par­tic­u­larly when lift­ing and car­ry­ing chil­dren. It is also fan­tas­tic for help­ing with past in­juries or prob­lems brought on through preg­nancy, such as a sore back and hips.

It is a dif­fer­ent type of re­lax- ation to one of Sarah’s other classes where there are no chil­dren, but I al­ways find my­self leav­ing the class smil­ing and less stressed.

The kids gen­er­ally play hap­pily with all the toys and it is nice to have a chat with the other mums.

BodyMana is lo­cated in Whitby where Sarah of­fers her Pi­lates/ Yoga Fu­sion classes throughout the week. All classes are $10 per ses­sion or $80 for a 10-trip pass.
