Moana Court turnover

-

The management of the Moana Court flats has officially been placed in the hands of Wellington City Council. Porirua City Council decided to adopt WCC’s social housing service policy last week, effectively turning over the 26 units to the other council. Rents will be set at 70 per cent of market rate, or 35 per cent of residents’ incomes, whichever is lower, and this will be reviewed annually. PCC will be liable for maintenance – $350,000 has been set aside for the next 10 years – and a tenancy management fee of $20,000. Porirua Mayor Nick Leggett said the council’s desire to see Moana Court kept as social housing has been achieved, WCC had the right expertise to manage the units and there had been positive buy-in from the tenants.
