Dog fees too high

I wholeheartedly agree with Tania Burton’s letter (July 16) about dog registration fees being too high in Porirua.

The figures she quoted, comparing Porirua to Masterton, Manawatu, Christchurch and even Auckland, were amazing. Fancy Porirua charging nearly double what Christchurch does to have a dog registered!

Surely this is an area in which Porirua City Council could have another look at things and perhaps trim the registration fee back by up to $50.

Fair’s fair. We don’t mind paying to have our dogs registered, but it should not be a case of dog owners being ripped off by their local council.
