Zonta winners
Two young women have been recognised for their leadership by Zonta International.
Laura Goodman and Jessica Fenton won Zonta’s Young Women in Public Affairs award for the Wellington region.
They received certificates and a $ 500 cheque at the ceremony, hosted by Porirua mayor Nick Leggett last week.
Porirua City councillor Bronwyn Kropp, a previous winner of the award, was the guest speaker at the presentation.
The Zonta award is aimed at women under 19 who intend to go to university or polytech this year.
Jessica, from Wellington, and Laura, from Paremata, demonstrated leadership qualities in their academics and within their community, Zonta spokeswoman Michelle Robinson said.
The pair join winners from other clubs around New Zealand to find a national winner to take part in the International Young Woman in Public Affairs award.
The New Zealand winner will receive $US1000 from the Zonta Foundation.
