Ranui Village improvements

-

The pedestrian and traf c zone around the Ranui shopping centre on Mungavin Avenue is undergoing a number of improvements. Work has just begun to upgrade footpaths, slow traf c through the centre and increase available parking that will make the area safer for pedestrians and more attractive. The new footpath along the shop fronts will feature sandblasted exposed aggregate to symbolise a river connecting the village to the harbour.

The project includes the construc- tion of a roundabout at Martin Street intersection, and a new pedestrian crossing on Mungavin Avenue to replace the one adjacent to Martin Street. There will be a few minor disruptions for drivers and pedestrians while this is being done. The work, which is due to be completed by the end of May, is being done through the Village Planning Programme and Council’s roading team with the Ranui Residents Association closely involved in the upgrade design.
