Former Mana College student Debbie Epiha- Rene has gained a Maori cadetship with the Bank of New Zealand.

Cadetships are available for candidates who are referred and endorsed by BNZ iwi/ Maori business partners.

Ms Epiha- Rene was referred by her uncle, Ngati Tama chairman Karewa Arthur and endorsed by Ngati Toa chairman Taku Parai.

Ms Epiha-Rene, who was looking to study commerce at Victoria University this year, is the youngest of 12 cadets selected nationwide to be mentored through the many aspects of banking for six months, with the potential to a build a long career in banking.

Mana College was asked by Ngati Tama in December to nominate a cadetship candidate, said its board of trustees chairman Chris Toa.
