Council live on TV?

Porirua deputy mayor ’Ana Coffey has raised the idea of live streaming Porirua City Council’s committee meetings.

‘‘It’s about giving more access to people who may not make it here [to attend a meeting] during the week,’’ she told a Te Komiti meeting last week.

Wellington City Council live streamed its inauguration meeting in October, and drew very poor ratings.

However, the Wellington council intends live streaming regularly from August 27.

There will be a report to a future meeting of Porirua City Council on the cost and likely effectiveness of live streaming.
