COUNTING DOWNTO GIGATOWN

-

With just over two weeks to go, Porirua is sitting at fourth place on the Gigatown leaderboard –thanks mainly to 400,000 Gigapoints earned by local schools’ winning videos depicting a day in the life of a gigabit-connected school. Not only was Porirua the only town that featured more than once on the scoreboard, no less than four local schools took top spots in the Gigaschools competition – and Corinna School scooped second place in the junior category.

Now that Porirua is the only North Island town left in the running, Upper and Lower Hutt, Wellington and the Kapiti Coast have got in behind us. They are urging their residents to support Porirua’s bid to bring three years of fast, affordable broadband to the region – which will create jobs and hi-tech careers for our young people. With so little time left to secure our spot in the Top Five towns for the Gigatown nals, it’s more important than ever that you all help out – and the best way to make a difference is by completing the monthly quiz. Every participant in the nal August and September quizzes wins big bonus points for Gigatownporirua – so this is our best shot at reaching the Gigatown nals on 12 September! Visit www.gigatown.co.nz and join up as a Porirua supporter and then do the quiz masterclass. You can also play Nick Leggett’s Fast Fibre Zombie Game at www.gamefroot.com/fast bre (you’ll need a Chrome browser). Tweet your score to win more Gigapoints!
