Loud message for PostShop meeting

-

New Zealand Post will host two public meetings later this month to discuss the future of Mana PostShop.

Mana MP Kris Faafoi and Porirua mayor Nick Leggett met with senior management of New Zealand Post last month.

‘‘ At that meeting we were assured they want to maintain services [at the Mana PostShop] but they reiterated the company’s intention to find new, suitable premises,’’ Faafoi said.

‘‘ New Zealand Post has conceded that it could have engaged with the community much better in this matter and they have agreed to my request to come and speak to the community directly.

‘‘It will be their opportunity to outline their plans and listen to the opinions of locals.’’

Faafoi said more than 1000 residents responded to a survey he conducted in June. People wanted the PostShop services, which could be downscaled, to remain as they are, he said.

‘‘I would encourage everyone who replied to the survey or who have strong feelings about retain- ing core services in the community to attend,’’ Faafoi said. ‘‘The more voices we have, the louder our message will be.’’
