Project changes our per­cep­tions

Charlie Jack­son has got ex­tra­or­di­nary su­per pow­ers.

The Tawa-Linden Play­cen­tre at­tendee fea­tures in a book called the Su­per Power Baby Project by award-win­ning pho­tog­ra­pher Rachel Cal­lan­der – a pho­to­graphic art book show­cas­ing chil­dren around New Zealand who were born with chro­mo­so­mal and ge­netic con­di­tions. The project aims to change the way in which chil­dren with ab­nor­mal­i­ties are ad­dressed, and to recog­nise and ap­pre­ci­ate the spe­cial abil­i­ties they have.

Charlie was guest of hon­our at the play­cen­tre last Tues­day and his friends also showed off their best su­per­hero cos­tumes to support him.

Sev­enty chil­dren are fea­tured in the book, which is avail­able in book­stores.
