Inquiry into house fire ongoing

Police are continuing their investigation into what happened before a fatal house fire in Titahi Bay on August 24.

A post- mortem on Kamira Rangimoeakau, 57, known as Kam Rangi, was completed on Monday last week and police are considering the results, Detective Senior Sergeant Grant Ferguson said.

‘‘At this stage, further investigation is required. A full scene examination has been completed and has been able to confirm that the fire started inside the house.

‘‘The focus of our investigation remains on building a full picture of the circumstances surrounding the fire.’’

The fire service was called to the Dimock St house shortly before 1am on August 24. They were alerted by a neighbour who heard glass breaking and shouting from inside.

The house was fully engulfed in fire by the time of their arrival.

Police met Rangimoeakau’s family last week to update them.
