Nelson’s enticing Gigatown offer

-

Gigatown Nelson’s North Island supporters are being wooed with a chance to win an all-expenses paid 10-day campervan holiday for their tweets.

Nelson is one of five finalists competing in the Chorus competition for discounted ultrafast broadband. Porirua, which finished sixth in the first round, has got in behind the sunny city’s bid for victory.

Between now and the end of November, Nelson needs people to register their support for the city on gigatown.co.nz and to then use the #gigatownnelson tag wherever they go on social media.

‘‘We’ve had fantastic support in Porirua from their Gigatown team and I know they are pulling for us. We want to return the favour with an amazing trip to our part of the country,’’ Gigatown Nelson team member Glenda Buschl said.

Anyone who registers will be put in the draw to win two return tickets from Wellington, a Road Abode sixberth campervan and a complimentary stay in Pohara and Motueka Top 10 holiday parks, as well as dining at various restaurants from Nelson to Kaiteriteri and out to Golden Bay.

The winner will also get to visit Abel Tasman National Park.

Bonus entries are on offer for people who tweet for #GigatownNelson and complete the Gigatown quiz for Nelson.

Nelson is in the running to be overall Gigatown winner. It is up against Dunedin, Gisborne, Timaru and Wanaka.

The scoreboards are a little more elusive than in the first round, but towns are being monitored on their social media share, quizzes and the number of supporters.

Nelson has the most number of quizzes under its belt, with 3208, though it is in fourth place for social media share with just 13.5 per cent. Dunedin is next lowest in that category with 26.8 per cent.

Nelson and Dunedin are neck and neck for numbers of supporters and both are far ahead of the rest.

The offer closes on November 2, and the trip must be taken between November 13 and 23.
