Sports stars in char­ity fun run

All Black veteran Con­rad Smith is the am­bas­sador of So They Can, a New Zealand char­ity that sup­ports chil­dren liv­ing in ex­treme poverty in Africa.

Smith is host­ing the in­au­gu­ral fundrais­ing So They Can fun run in Wellington on Sun­day, De­cem­ber 7.

Be­sides Smith, Sil­ver Fern net­baller Ka­t­rina Grant and Olympic ath­lete Kate McIlroy will also be in­volved in the event.

There will be age group races through­out the day for chil­dren.

The high­light of the day will be the celebrity re­lay race – chil­dren can en­ter into a draw to win the op­por­tu­nity to run with Smith, Grant or McIlroy in their team.

The school with the most chil­dren at­tend­ing the event will win a visit by Smith, who will speak to the school about his in­volve­ment with the char­ity and his ex­pe­ri­ences from trips to Africa.

Chil­dren who raise $200 or more through spon­sor­ship will be in­vited to the VIP meet and greet break­fast hosted by the three sports stars on the morn­ing of the event.

The event takes place at New­town Park, De­cem­ber 7, 10am till 2pm.

Tick­ets, if booked by Novem­ber 26, $10 sin­gle or $35 for a fam­ily of up to six, plus book­ing fees. After that, $13 sin­gle or $45 for a fam­ily of up to six, plus book­ing fees.
