Sports stars in charity fun run
All Black veteran Conrad Smith is the ambassador of So They Can, a New Zealand charity that supports children living in extreme poverty in Africa.
Smith is hosting the inaugural fundraising So They Can fun run in Wellington on Sunday, December 7.
Besides Smith, Silver Fern netballer Katrina Grant and Olympic athlete Kate McIlroy will also be involved in the event.
There will be age group races throughout the day for children.
The highlight of the day will be the celebrity relay race – children can enter into a draw to win the opportunity to run with Smith, Grant or McIlroy in their team.
The school with the most children attending the event will win a visit by Smith, who will speak to the school about his involvement with the charity and his experiences from trips to Africa.
Children who raise $200 or more through sponsorship will be invited to the VIP meet and greet breakfast hosted by the three sports stars on the morning of the event.
The event takes place at Newtown Park, December 7, 10am till 2pm.
Tickets, if booked by November 26, $10 single or $35 for a family of up to six, plus booking fees. After that, $13 single or $45 for a family of up to six, plus booking fees.
