Hundreds of houses for Porirua

- VIRGINIA FALLON

The development of up to 600 new homes at the old Kenepuru Hospital site will be great for Porirua.

The medium density housing project is a joint venture with Ngati Toa and Carrus, who built the Aotea subdivision in eastern Porirua.

The Office of Treaty Settlements will settle the land in October and Carrus would lodge resource consents at about that time.

‘‘Earthworks will begin in the first and second quarter of 2017 with civil works after that,’’ Carrus Properties director Scott Adams said.

‘‘New homes should be going up in October.’’
