Despite a slow start, Porirua’s mayoral race will be hotly contested.

Six candidates will vie for the top job, with many of them putting all their eggs in the mayoral basket.

There are also new entrants and some movement in our wards, which is great and should encourage healthy debate on what is best for the city.

Over the next few weeks KapiMana News will introduce you to those hoping to represent you across Porirua and, on your behalf, ask them the tough questions.

Through Stuff, Neighbourly and this paper we will be asking you what are the top issues in your area. This is your chance to get answers from your candidates.

Voting documents will be delivered from September 21.
