She would love to have school at the weekends as well. We chat with Ella-Ruth.

Ella-Ruth Clifford has some pretty big plans.

She recently won a Youth award for helping other Porirua children but she’s not stopping with that.

With plans to change the world and running for mayor the future looks bright- and busy- for the primary school pupil.

We sat down with Ella during her recent visit to the mayor’s office to find out some more about her world.

WHAT DO YOU DO FOR A JOB/ WHERE DO YOU STUDY?

I’m at school because I’m only 10 years old. I go to Titahi Bay School.

WHAT’S THE PEST PART OF YOUR JOB/SCHOOL?

Having the best teachers and principal in New Zealand and being a buddy patrol leader.

WHAT’S THE WORST?

That it’s not being opened on weekends.

WHAT WOULD PEOPLE BE SURPRISED TO KNOW ABOUT YOU?

That I’m learning how to speak khymer.

HOW DO YOU RELAX?

By watching youtube videos.

WHERE CAN WE FIND YOU IN THE WEEKENDS?

We have family day on Saturdays so we do things together for the whole day and we go to church on Sunday.

DO YOU HAVE ANY SPECIAL TALENTS?

I’m good at acting in dramas.

IF YOU COULD INVITE THREE PEOPLE TO DINNER - LIVING OR DEAD- WHO WOULD THEY BE?

My mummy, my daddy and my brother Daniel.

FAVOURITE PLACE IN PORIRUA?

My church, it always makes me feel happy there.

IF YOU COULD HAVE ONE SUPER POWER WHAT WOULD IT BE?

I’d like to be able to read people’s minds. That way I can know if they need something but they’re too shy to ask. If I could read their minds I could help them.

WHAT SCARES YOU?

That I know one day my daddy andmumare going to die.

WHOWOULD PLAY YOU IN THE MOVIE ABOUT YOUR LIFE?

I don’t know. I don’t know if anyone can!

WHATWAS YOUR HIGHLIGHT OF 2016?

Going to my new school and the new house we got. It was fun just smashing out the walls and that stuff [renovation­s].

WHAT THREE THINGS WOULD YOU TAKE IF YOU WERE GOING TO BE STRANDED ON A DESERT ISLAND?

Water, food and a camel so I can ride it to somewhere that isn’t a desert island.

WHAT IS YOUR DREAM HOLIDAY LOCATION?

We are going to go to Cambodia this Christmas to help on a mission trip, that’s enough for me.
