Euon wants to go from the Porirua Basin to the Beehive.

Euon Murrell has some pretty big plans. The long-standing Porirua City councillor has been confirmed as the National Party candidate for the Mana electorate ahead of the voting in September. Murrell, who unsuccessf­ully ran for mayor last year, shared a bit about himself for readers. WHAT DO YOU DO FOR A JOB?

I amthe Principal at Tommy’s Mana, which is a residentia­l real estate company covering Porirua City to Pukerua Bay. I’ve also just been selected as National’s candidate for the Mana Electorate, which means I have a busy but exciting few months ahead of me as I work to convince everyone that a Party vote for National is critical for our area’s continued success.

WHAT’S THE BEST PART OF YOUR JOB?

Meeting people and assisting them to solve their property needs.

It’s an important and emotional time for many people and I feel privileged to be able to assist them with their decisions.

WHAT’S THE WORST?

I think real estate agents have a poor reputation because of how a

After many years in business and representi­ng the area on council, I am a pretty open book but it might surprise some that I only came out gay in the last few years. I also grew up in a state house and have never forgotten where I came from.

HOW DO YOU RELAX?

I enjoy socialisin­g with friends and meeting new and old friends.

WHERE CAN WE FIND YOU IN THE WEEKENDS?

Often working but if not, I will be staying on the Kapiti Coast with my partner.

The ability to get things done.

FAVOURITE PLACE IN PORIRUA?

The beach at Ngati Toa domain is a favourite spot. It’s the head of our two harbours and a magnificen­t site.

Many tourists in campervans recognise this but I’m not sure we as locals pay it as much attention.

IF YOU COULD HAVE ONE SUPER POWER WHAT WOULD IT BE?

To be able to instantly bring all homes in New Zealand up to current building standards.

WHAT SCARES YOU?

Donald Trump, need I say more.

I’m thinking George Clooney, he’s got style and there’s a passing resemblanc­e.
