Exhibition a chance for members to get creative

-

Kapiti Arts and Crafts Society’s two kilns Bertha and Olga have been working overtime, making them two of the most important members of the society.

Bertha has had some health problems but they have been resolved in time for the annual Clay Expressions Exhibition at the Kapiti Gallery.

The exhibition always springs surprises as new and existing members experiment.

Visitors can expect some new and different work after the society has seen a growth in membership of the pottery group this year.

As usual there is practical and frivolous work on show.

During the year the group have in-house competitions with a theme ie transport, the human form and others and some of those entries will be exhibited. Work by Lyn Rigg, Storm Davenport, Pauline Patterson, Roger Brittain, Ted Maguire, Diane Ward and many more will be on display.

The exhibition opens on today and closes October 7.

The Kapiti Gallery showcases work by society members and from time to time guest artists.

It is at 192 Matai Rd, Raumati Beach, on the Matai Rd Reserve and is open Wednesday to Sunday 10am to 3pm.

The gallery can be opened outside these hours for groups by phoning 04 9028549.
