Giving back to community with proceeds to charities

Day of Peace 10 Weka Rd Raumati Beach 5pm – Shared tea to follow For many years Paraparaum­u College head of music Merrick Stein has been involved in numerous musical events and production­s that have received the support of the community.

His latest project, It’s Showtime! is an opportunit­y to give back to the community with proceeds from the production, directed and produced by Merrick and Alicia Kindell from Dreams Academy of Performing Arts, going to the Mary Potter Hospice and Canteen.

“Now it’s time to give back to the community,” he said.

“I came up with the idea of a benefit concert with all proceeds going to two charities that are close to my heart.

“I have received incredible support from supporters providing finances and services.”

Friday’s charity concert will appeal to young and old. It’s a balanced celebratio­n of music and dance that will please everybody attending, he said.

The production is this Friday at Southward Theatre from 7pm.

Tickets are $12, available at the Coastlands Booking Office.
