HERITAGE FUND APPLICATIONS
Kapiti Coast District Council has funding available through its Heritage Fund to assist landowners manage and protect heritage features. The Heritage Fund is contestable, with $35,000 available for the current financial year. The current funding round closes (insert date eight weeks from date of advertisement publication). The Council established the fund to provide an incentive for landowners to look after heritage features, including ecological, geological, historical and cultural sites.
Kapiti Coast District ratepayers who own land with cultural or natural heritage features which are already protected, or they are willing to protect (for example by covenant) or that are listed in the District Plan Heritage Register, may be eligible for funding. The following projects may qualify:
• Fencing off and permanently protecting native bush, heritage trees, wetlands, stream banks and other heritage features
Ongoing management of heritage areas such as ecological sites Painting, restoration, maintenance of heritage buildings and structures
Maintenance of heritage trees
Research and/or community education projects focussed on heritage management and protection
