Katherine wins wild picture

- David Haxton

Katherine Mason from Raumati South is the proud owner of a supersize image of an elephant and its young roaming freely in the wild.

She won the picture in a competition run by Tall Poppy Real Estate agent Ricky Bartlett, who has been running a monthly competition which started in July and goes until Christmas.

“The aim of this was to collaborate, engage with and promote local businesses.

“So far I have partnered with Wellington Beds, the Ka¯ piti Chocolate Factory and Paula’s Home & Living, all of who have been generous.

“September’s competition with Paula’s Home & Living came at a time when they were rebranding so it seemed a great way to celebrate this.

“Paula provided a choice of two amazing pieces of wall art for my Facebook followers to choose from.”

Katherine was the winner and choose the Wild Elephant image measuring 240x120.

“It’s incredible,” she said when seeing the image firsthand on Thursday.

“I had no idea it would be such a magnificent piece. I’m very fortunate to have won the competition.”

Her parents-in-law are in Nairobi on safari “so I’ve been getting lots of elephant photos”.

“I don’t need to go to Africa now.”

Mr Bartlett said the competitions were getting good coverage and people seem keen to get involved and share with their friends.
