Loader stranded off Paekakarik­i

Something orange caught the eye of Paekakarik­i man Kerry Robins when he was driving home on Thursday last week.

‘‘There in the incoming tide, was a loader.’’

The loader was stuck in the surf off the coast of the Kapiti village and almost engulfed by water in the high tide.

Robins spotted the loader at about 11am, about 150 metres north of the intersecti­on of Beach Rd and The Parade.

‘‘There were a few people around ... it must have been quite amazing to come in and watch the incoming tide.’’

Robins said he thought he loader had become stuck in the wet sand.
