Well done Katikati

What a great weekend starting with the suffrage lecture on Friday afternoon in the Hub, then the opening of the Arts Junction in the evening and the crowning glory with Saturday’s celebration of women’s suffrage. The march with placards and people in costume depicting a variety of aspects was a great sight. Displays and singing in Memorial Square were followed by an afternoon of entertainment in the Memorial Hall. Helen Clarke’s address was well received and Di Logan’s clever capture of the times is a play worth repeating.

There’s a new lady in town who played a large part in organising the events we enjoyed. I think she hit her new job running, so welcome and thank you Nicky for joining Jacqui and Kristin and sharing the great work you all do at promoting Katikati. JOAN BOGGISS
