Specialists reach new heights

-

Locally raised twin brothers Matt and Rob Duytshoff now provide an invaluable service to eastern Bay orchardists.

The guys recently purchased a machine for controlled shelter belt topping capable of reaching a staggering 18 metres in height to complement their tree control fleet.

This machine has the ability to hold a load at this height of three plus tonnes. It features a controlled grapple and saw unit to remove branches, full trees and shelter belts.

In addition, they offer shelter belt and hedge trimming and chipping services.

Now, their machinery has the capability to remove even the gnarliest of trees, or the highest “out of control” shelter belt.

Both Rob and Matt were born and raised in the eastern Bay of Plenty and had previously held roles in management. Recently, the twins both needing a change and seeing a gap in the controlled shelter belt business, decided to “partner up” and so Tree Control was formed.

Initially they started working in the Hawke’s Bay, but they now also work in the Eastern Bay and as Matt says, “there seems to be plenty of repeat controlled shelter topping work. Also, our purpose-built shelter trimmer is the only one that we know of in the Bay of Plenty.”

In addition, he mentions this machine is a four-wheel steer model which allows for a tight turning circle and causes minimal damage to the ground. It is capable of reaching heights of 17 metres.

Matt says, “We are now able to offer the complete range of tree control services, from trimming the top of those previously hard to reach shelter belts and side trimming to removal of up to 18 metre trees, from flat to sloping terrain, we can do it all.”
