Veterans — Seventeen 9-hole veterans teed off at Fairview last Thursday morning in wonderful weather, no wind, sun shining and over 20 degrees, one could not ask for better conditions. A nett competitio­n was contested over the front nine holes, with the fairways and greens in great order, thanks to the grounds staff. The winners of the day were — first John Buckthough­t who returned a card of 30 nett, second Paul Blackford with 32 nett and third was Peter Wilson with 33 nett. Fourth equal were six players with 34 nett — Alan Partington, Stewart Couper, Laurie Harris, Barry Winning, Neil Cruden, and Bob Willetts. The hidden hole also was shared between 7 players.

Women’s Golf — 18 holes — There was a good muster of Saturday ladies on September

15, not only for golf, but to check last minute details for running their major Birchwood tournament the next day.
