Bowls club championship winners decided
Katikati bowlers Anne Mahon(S), Robyn Johnston (D) and Raewyn Burwell (L) wonthe Outdoor Bowls Club’s ladies championship triples tournament played at the weekend, with two lives.
Four teams played in the two-life tournament and there weres ome really close games. Runnerup team was Janet Alexandra (S), Hein Mack (D), Helen Board (L).
On Sunday eight teams played a two-life tournament in the men’s club championship triples. For Sunday play there were two teams remaining — Alan Burwell’s team had towin twice, against Barrie Johnstone’s team whoh ad two lives, and in doing so, wonthe 2020 men’s championship triples.
The two games were played in good spirit and there were many excellent bowls from both teams. Mens finalists championship triples winners: Alan Burwell (S), Roy Nutger (D) and Tom Chase (L). Runner-up: Barrie Johnstone (S), Wayne Rains (D), Iain Barker (L).
