Community gets ready to greet Santa

Preparatio­n for this year’s Santa’s Grotto at the Junction Theatre is well underway and will be open to the public to view from Sunday, December 13 to December 29.

Katch Katikati’s event manager Kylie Watkins is thrilled to bring this unique experience to Katikati. It was Kylie’s first time organising the event, and she was pleasantly surprised by the enthusiasm shownwhen all groups involved jumped at the chance to be part of it again.

“I can see a real passion and connection within the community whenit comes to Christmas and, after the yearwehave all had, this brings a real sense of family and joy and summer.”

Kylie would like to acknowledg­e the groups working alongside Katch Katikati— Katikati Floral Art Group, Western Bay Library, Katikati Theatre and the Combined Churches— and the time and effort they put into setting up the Grotto.

“Santa’s coming to town to have his photo taken with you.”

Hewill be visiting from3pm-5pm on Wednesday, December 16, 2pm4pmon Friday, December 18, 10amnoon, Monday, December 21 and 2pm-3pm, Wednesday December 23.

“Santa will bring the Christmas cheer, while you bring the smiles,” says Kylie.

Also a special mention goes to the Rotary Club of Katikati for their kind grant to help have the Santa’s Grotto banner reprinted after it was stolen from above the glass eve at the Arts Junction last year.
