Hymns rival tui at Tanners
Concert and picnic a festive tradition
The twilight hour, whentui normally sing, wasinstead filled with the sound of Christmas music at Tanners Point Reserve on Saturday, November28.
That’swhenthe Katikati Concert Band played traditional festive songs and hymnswhile locals enjoyed a barbecue and shared picnic under the shade of the reserve’s mature trees. Later they joined the band to sing a medley of songs bringing to an end an evening of music and friendship which hasbecome an annual seasonal fixture of the harbourside community.
The eveningwasorganised by the Tanners Point Ratepayers and Residents Association committee and it wasbandmembersand Tanners residents Mick and Susie Goodallwhoarranged for the band to play. Mike Howell and MurrayShaw mannedthe barbecues, Alan Nicolson collected themoney andRodCameron, association chair, welcomed everyone.
