Dynamites hit Jaguars for six

-

The 9th Grade Dynamites travelled to Omokoroa to play the Jaguars in the first game of the season — and came away 6-1 winners.

It took until the 6th minute for the first goal to be scored, Jackson Steven's put a ball through into the penalty area, the goalkeeper dived on it but it spun out of his hands, Blake Cousins following up pounced on the loose ball, took it away from the keeper and slotted it home.

Three minutes later Jackson struck a powerful shot from about 9m out, giving the goalkeeper no chance to make it two-nil.

Monty Groenewald was unlucky not to score after doing a lovely turn and hitting the post. At the same time Kobe Hammonds was having a great game in goal, stopping anything the Jaguars could throw at him.

Two-nil up at the break, the Dynamites came out firing in the second half, with Monty scoring within 46 seconds of the restart.

A few changes were made to rest players at half time and upset the structure. With the Dynamites team exposed at the back, three Omokoroa players were left unmarked in front of goal, allowing the hosts to pounce on a loose ball and get back into the game.

After a couple of positional changes the team got back on the scoresheet with another goal for Blake from a Paige McClennan pass. Two minutes after that the Dynamites won a free kick in their half, Jackson took a quick one to Blake who turned and hit a screamer from about 9m out, to score in the top corner.

Two minutes from the end Blake deservedly got his hat-trick by following up his shot that the keeper couldn't hold onto and placed it nicely into the goal.

Every player in the team played a part in the win. The final score was 6-1 to the Dynamites.
