KATIKATI Fairview 9 Hole Ladies

On Thursday, April 29 the ladies had an opportunity to mix up both divisions and by playing off multiple tees were all able to reach the clubrooms around the same time — not often possible on Club Day. Hidden pair winners were: 1st equal Isabell Johnson and Carol Fippard, Anita Kelly and Astrid Martin with 38, 2nd Lois Fahey and Carol Fleet with 37 and 3rd equal Glenis Hilt and Susan Lockyer, Sandie Knowlson and Pene Rosie with 36. Anita Kelly also chipped in on 3 and Wendy Patrick had a birdie on 4.

Last Thursday was a gorgeous day for golf in what seems to be a never-ending summer. Thirty ladies played the qualifying round for handicap matchplay and the haggle was paid out on best nett for the day. Div 1 played the back 9: 1st Stephanie Wood with 36, 2nd equal Marilyn Payne, Glenis Hilt and Anne Howard with 37, 3rd Astrid Martin with 38. Div 2 played the front 9: 1st equal Lois Fahey and Pat Pepper with 33, 2nd equal Carol Fippard and Dot Spice with 34, 3rd Evelyn McCord with 35. The ladies farewelled Beverley Brittain, a long standing member of Fairview 9 hole ladies, who is relocating to Papamoa.

■ Summer cups were also presented as follows — Astrid Martin cup for top stableford points Div 1 to Carol Fleet, the Ballantyne 9 Hole Summer Cup for top stableford points Div 2 to Melanie Van Buuren, the Honda 9 Hole Summer Cup for best Nett Div 1 to Joanne Carnachan, the Ballantyne Summer Cup for best Nett Div 2 to Jenny Harrison and the Ella Thomson trophy Top 10 Summer winner was Monique Amor.
