Why do trees lose their leaves?

Winter is a time for trees to recharge their batteries before they bounce back into life in spring. Many trees shed their leaves as a way to survive harsh weather conditions. Shedding leaves helps trees to conserve water and energy.

Deciduous or evergreen?

Trees that lose all of their leaves for part of the year are known as deciduous trees. Those that don’t are called evergreen trees.
